This week our ninth-grade girls worked intensively in math class, seeking to approximate pi by using pushpins and string to measure the perimeter of a many-sided polygon. They even—somewhat successfully—compared their results to the ancient measures of pi from the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and the Bible!
