Time to meet another new teacher! Below you can get to know Mr. Jadon Lippincott.
Q: What subjects are you teaching?
A: PreAlgebra, Geometry, Calculus, 12th Grade Math (Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra)
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: My all time favorite book is CS Lewis’ The Last Battle. I fell in love with the Chronicles of Narnia as a young child when my mother read them to me and my brothers. When I re-encountered them as an adult, I was able to see the beautiful value of the works. The Last Battle’s portrayal of the restored Narnia gives me so much hope in the Jesus’ coming kingdom.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I love cooking and baking. When I was about 10-years-old my mother had me prepare baked potato soup. The recipe called for 3 tablespoons of flour (as thickener for the rue) and I misread that as 3 cups. Unfortunately when you add 3 cups of flour to a soup the flour will clod and form little balls—which if you aren’t careful look uncannily like baked potato pieces…. That recipe has since been christened “Flour Ball Soup.” Fortunately I am a better chef than my 10-year-old self. I also have loved hiking and seeing national parks and bike restoration.
Q: What is your educational background?
A: I grew up in k-12 Public education. I only liked those subjects in which I was successful. I look back and recognize an overwhelming disdain for the education I received. In college, I attended Hillsdale College, in south-central Michigan and fell in love with Classically motivated education. I also fell in love with mathematics—even though I was not the best at it. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
The photo below is of me at Yellowstone, this past summer.
